Author Guidelines
The Journal of Supply Chain Engineering and Logistics Optimization accepts submissions that focus on the design, management, and improvement of supply chain systems and logistics networks. Manuscripts must reflect a commitment to methodological rigour, clear presentation, and ethical research practice. All work should be original, relevant to the journal’s thematic areas, and prepared in accordance with the submission requirements described below.
All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s online submission system. Submissions that do not meet the journal’s formatting or ethical standards may be returned to authors before peer review.
Article Types
- Research Articles: Full-length empirical or theoretical studies that integrate concepts, methods, or models from supply chain engineering, logistics, operations research, and management science. May include qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches.
- Analytical Essays: Conceptual or reflective pieces that address significant challenges, frameworks, or approaches in supply chain and logistics optimisation.
- Review Articles: Structured surveys of literature across supply chain management, transportation systems, inventory control, and related areas, evaluating current developments, debates, and knowledge gaps.
- Case Studies: Descriptive or analytical accounts of supply chain projects, operational improvements, or logistics engineering initiatives.
- Commentary and Perspective: Shorter contributions offering timely insights or critical reflections on trends, technologies, and practices in supply chain and logistics.
- Policy Analyses: Evaluations of how regulations, trade agreements, or infrastructure policies affect supply chain performance.
- Educational and Training Reports: Descriptions of teaching models, curriculum innovations, or professional development programs in supply chain and logistics fields.
- Letters to the Editor: Scholarly responses to articles published in the journal or brief reflections on emerging topics.
General Formatting
- All manuscripts must be submitted as Microsoft Word files, using Times New Roman, 12-point font, double spacing, and 2.5 cm margins.
- Pages must be numbered consecutively.
Title Page
The title page must include:
- Full manuscript title
- Names and institutional affiliations of all authors
- Corresponding author’s contact details
- Conflict of interest disclosures
- Funding acknowledgements (if applicable)
- Ethical approval statements (if applicable)
- A short author biography (50–100 words) may be submitted as a separate file if requested.
Abstract
All submissions must include an abstract of 250–300 words summarising the scope, objectives, key methods or approaches, and major findings or insights. The abstract should be accessible to readers from multiple disciplines and professional backgrounds in supply chain and logistics.
Keywords
Provide four to six keywords that reflect the thematic and methodological focus of the manuscript. Keywords support indexing and retrieval.
Main Text
The structure of the main text may vary according to article type. For research manuscripts, the recommended structure is:
- Introduction – Define the problem or research question, provide context from the literature, and explain its relevance to supply chain engineering and logistics.
- Methods – Describe the methodological approach, including models, data sources, analytical techniques, or theoretical frameworks. Indicate how different disciplines or approaches contribute to the study.
- Results or Argument – Present the major findings, solutions, or conceptual developments. Use tables, figures, or diagrams as appropriate.
- Discussion – Interpret the significance of the results in relation to prior work. Discuss practical applications, integration with other systems, and any limitations.
- Conclusion – Summarise the contributions and suggest future research directions or operational implications.
Other article types may follow flexible structures, provided they are coherent, scholarly, and clearly presented.
Tables and Figures
- All tables and figures must be clearly labelled, numbered, and cited in the text.
- Figures should be submitted in high-resolution formats (JPEG, PNG, or TIFF).
- Captions must be concise and informative.
- Supplementary materials such as datasets, visualisations, or operational flowcharts should be submitted as separate files with appropriate descriptions.
References
- All references cited in the text must be listed at the end of the manuscript.
- The journal follows APA style for citations and references.
- Authors are responsible for accuracy and consistency in referencing.
Ethical Considerations
- Manuscripts must adhere to ethical standards appropriate to the research design and subject matter.
- Studies involving human participants, industry collaborations, or sensitive operational data must include a statement regarding ethics approval or exemption.
- For industry case studies or collaborative projects, authors should describe processes ensuring informed consent, confidentiality, and responsible use of operational data.
- Authors must ensure that any identifying information about companies, individuals, or facilities is anonymised when required.
Conflict of Interest
All authors must declare any financial, institutional, or professional relationships that could influence the content or interpretation of their work. This statement should appear on the title page and, where appropriate, in the manuscript.
Funding Disclosure
Authors must acknowledge all sources of financial support. If no funding was received, this should be clearly stated.
Submission Requirements
A complete submission includes:
- Main manuscript
- Title page
- Tables and figures (if separate)
- Supplementary materials (if applicable)
- Cover letter outlining the manuscript’s originality and relevance to the journal’s scope
Submissions must be original and not under review elsewhere.
Peer Review
All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review. Reviewers are selected for their expertise in relevant areas of supply chain engineering and logistics. They assess clarity, originality, methodological soundness, integration of perspectives, scholarly contribution, and alignment with the journal’s aims.
Article Processing Charge (APC)
An Article Processing Charge will be levied upon acceptance. Full details will be communicated to the corresponding author after final editorial approval.
Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright over their published work. By submitting a manuscript, authors grant the journal the right to publish and distribute the article under an open-access model. Proper attribution is required when reusing any material from the journal.
Editorial Support
The editorial team is available to answer questions about scope, formatting, ethics, or manuscript preparation. Authors are encouraged to contact the journal office for guidance at any stage.
