Author Guidelines

Authors interested in submitting their manuscripts to the World Journal of Sensors Network Research must adhere to the following comprehensive guidelines. These instructions are intended to streamline the submission and peer review process and ensure that each manuscript upholds the journal's standards for clarity, academic rigour, and technical precision. Manuscripts that do not follow these guidelines may be returned to authors for correction prior to formal peer review.

1. Manuscript Categories Accepted

We accept a broad range of manuscript types, including but not limited to:

  • Original Research Articles: Detailed and data-rich studies that present novel research findings in any domain relevant to sensors and sensor network systems.
  • Review Articles: Structured and comprehensive overviews of specific areas within sensor technologies, offering critical assessments of existing literature and identifying gaps for future research.
  • Technical Notes: Focused papers addressing a specific technical aspect of sensor systems, such as circuit design, protocol implementation, or system calibration.
  • Short Communications: Brief manuscripts presenting significant findings, proofs of concept, or innovations that merit quick dissemination.
  • Case Studies and Application Reports: Real-world implementations, deployment insights, and performance evaluations of sensor network solutions in industrial, healthcare, agricultural, or urban contexts.
  • Editorials and Perspectives: Opinion pieces from experts in the field discussing emerging trends, ongoing challenges, or opportunities in sensor network research.

Each submission should clearly state its contribution to the field and should align with the journal’s core areas, including wireless sensor networks, embedded systems, communication technologies, and data-driven sensing.

2. Manuscript Preparation

Language and Style

Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English. Authors are encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally edited if English is not their first language. The tone should be formal and academic, with a consistent technical vocabulary.

Formatting Requirements

  • All submissions must be provided in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • Use 12-point Times New Roman font.
  • Maintain 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides.
  • Use double spacing throughout the document, including references and figure legends.
  • Include page numbers in the bottom right corner of each page.

Manuscript Structure

A typical research article should be organized into the following sections:

  • Title Page: Include the manuscript title, full names and affiliations of all authors, and corresponding author’s email address.
  • Abstract: A concise summary (150 to 250 words) of the research, covering objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions.
  • Keywords: Provide 5 to 8 keywords that accurately reflect the content. Suggested keywords include "wireless sensor networks," "embedded electronics," "IoT applications," "energy-efficient routing," "sensor fusion," and others as appropriate.
  • Introduction: Explain the background, relevance, and purpose of the study. Clearly state the research problem and its significance.
  • Materials and Methods: Offer detailed descriptions of experimental setups, simulation frameworks, or system architectures to ensure reproducibility.
  • Results: Present findings using text, tables, and figures. Highlight significant patterns, measurements, and performance outcomes.
  • Discussion: Interpret the results in the context of existing work. Discuss implications, potential applications, and limitations.
  • Conclusion: Summarise key findings and suggest directions for future research.
  • References: Cite all sources using APA format (American Psychological Association).

In-text citation examples:

3. Figures and Tables

  • Number all figures and tables consecutively (Figure 1, Table 1, etc.).
  • Provide clear and descriptive captions for all visuals.
  • Ensure that all images are of high resolution (minimum 300 DPI).
  • Preferred formats for figures: .jpg, .png, or .tiff.
  • Tables must be editable (do not submit as images) and aligned with the text formatting.

4. Submission Procedure

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s official online submission platform. Authors are required to create an account, fill out the submission form, and upload their manuscript along with supplementary materials.

Required Documents:

  • Main manuscript
  • Cover letter
  • Figures and tables (if separate from the manuscript)
  • Supplementary data files (optional)
  • Author declarations (conflict of interest, ethical compliance)

The cover letter should briefly state the originality of the submission, affirm that the manuscript is not under review elsewhere, and highlight the relevance of the work to the journal’s scope.

5. Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review. Expert reviewers will evaluate the manuscript based on originality, scientific quality, technical depth, clarity of presentation, and alignment with the journal’s focus. The editorial board reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not meet the required standards.

6. Article Processing Charges

Authors will be required to pay an Article Processing Charge upon acceptance of the manuscript. The APC covers publication, indexing, and long-term archiving. Specific details regarding the fee will be shared during the acceptance stage.

7. Ethical Considerations

The journal adheres to ethical guidelines set by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). All research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data must include appropriate ethical approval and informed consent. Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate rejection.

8. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright over their work. All articles will be published under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), allowing others to share, adapt, and build upon the work, provided proper attribution is given.

9. Revision and Resubmission

If revisions are requested after peer review, authors must address all reviewer comments in a detailed response letter. Revisions should be submitted within the specified timeframe, and all changes must be clearly highlighted in the new manuscript version.
