World Journal of Molecular Medicine

Author Guidelines

The editorial team of the World Journal of Molecular Medicine (ISSN: 3065-5196) welcomes original and high-quality contributions from researchers, clinicians, and scholars working in the fields of molecular medicine, biomedical research, and translational science. In order to facilitate a smooth and efficient review and publication process, authors are required to follow the detailed guidelines outlined below. These instructions ensure that each submission adheres to academic standards and meets the technical requirements of the journal.

1. Manuscript Types Accepted

The journal accepts a variety of manuscript types that contribute to the advancement of molecular science and its application in clinical medicine. These include:

  • Original Research Articles that present novel findings based on experimental or theoretical work in molecular medicine.
  • Review Articles that provide comprehensive overviews of a particular topic within the field, supported by recent literature and critical analysis.
  • Short Communications that report brief yet important preliminary findings or concise studies with significant implications.
  • Case Reports and Case Series that highlight unique or rare molecular diagnostic or therapeutic observations.
  • Methodology Papers that describe innovative techniques or protocols used in molecular biology and laboratory-based medicine.
  • Opinion Pieces and Commentaries that offer expert perspectives on emerging trends, controversies, or ethical considerations in molecular medicine.

Each manuscript type must align with the journal’s commitment to advancing understanding of molecular pathways, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic innovations.

2. Manuscript Preparation

Language Requirements

Manuscripts must be submitted in clear and grammatically correct English. Authors who are not native English speakers are encouraged to seek language editing services prior to submission to enhance clarity and readability.

Document Formatting

  • Submissions must be prepared in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • Use a standard font such as Times New Roman, 12-point size.
  • Line spacing should be set to double with 1-inch margins on all sides.
  • All pages must be numbered sequentially at the bottom center.
  • Include continuous line numbering to facilitate the review process.

Title Page

The title should be concise, informative, and directly reflect the focus of the study. Avoid unnecessary abbreviations or jargon. The title should not exceed 15 words.

Author details, including full names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses, should be listed clearly. The corresponding author must be identified with full contact information.

Abstract and Keywords

Each manuscript must include a structured abstract of 200 to 300 words. The abstract should briefly describe the background, objectives, methodology, key results, and main conclusions of the study.

Authors must provide 4 to 6 keywords that reflect the core themes of the manuscript. These keywords assist in indexing and improving discoverability in databases.

Main Body Structure

Original research articles should be organized under the following standard headings:

  • Introduction – A clear description of the background, the research question, and the rationale for the study.
  • Materials and Methods – Detailed and replicable information on experimental procedures, sample collection, and analytical tools used.
  • Results – Presentation of findings using appropriate text, tables, and figures, supported by statistical analysis.
  • Discussion – Interpretation of the findings in the context of existing literature, implications, and limitations.
  • Conclusion – Summary of key findings and recommendations for future research.

Other manuscript types may follow different structures but must maintain logical coherence and scientific rigor.

References

The journal follows the APA citation style. In-text citations should be placed using the author-date format, such as (Johnson, 2021). All references cited in the manuscript must be included in the reference list and vice versa.

Example of reference style:

Smith, J. A., & Lee, R. (2020). Advances in molecular diagnostics. Journal of Clinical Molecular Biology, 12(3), 245–259. https://doi.org/10.1234/jcmb.2020.03.245

Figures and Tables

  • All figures and tables should be cited in the text in sequential order.
  • Each figure and table must have a concise and descriptive caption.
  • Figures should be high-resolution images submitted separately in formats such as .jpg or .png.
  • Tables must be editable and included within the main manuscript file, not as images.

3. Submission Process

Online Submission System

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s official online submission platform. Authors must register, log in, and follow the step-by-step process to upload their manuscript, figures, supplementary materials, and required documentation.

Cover Letter

Each submission must include a cover letter stating the originality of the manuscript, its relevance to the journal’s scope, and confirmation that it is not under consideration elsewhere. The cover letter should also describe the key contributions of the research to the field of molecular medicine.

Author Declarations

All authors must declare any potential conflicts of interest. These include financial relationships, personal connections, or affiliations that might bias the interpretation of the data. Authors should also confirm ethical compliance for studies involving human or animal subjects.

4. Peer Review Policy

All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review process. Manuscripts are first screened by the editorial team for relevance and quality, after which they are sent to at least two independent experts for evaluation. Reviewers assess scientific validity, originality, clarity, and significance of the research.

Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts based on reviewer comments. The editorial team makes the final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection.

5. Article Processing Charges

To support open-access publishing and maintain high editorial standards, an article processing charge (APC) is applicable upon acceptance. Detailed information about the APC will be provided during the submission and acceptance process. No fees are charged at the time of submission.

6. Research Ethics and Compliance

Authors must ensure their research complies with institutional and international ethical standards. Studies involving human participants must include a statement of informed consent and approval by an appropriate ethics committee. For animal studies, adherence to ethical animal research practices must be clearly stated.

7. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain full copyright over their published work. Upon acceptance, the article will be published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, which permits free distribution and reuse with proper attribution to the original authors.

8. Revision and Resubmission

Authors receiving reviewer comments are expected to revise their manuscript thoroughly and submit a point-by-point response detailing how each comment was addressed. The revised manuscript will be re-evaluated to ensure all issues have been satisfactorily resolved.
