Author Guidelines
The Annals of Marine Science Research (ISSN: 3067-2406) invites researchers to submit original contributions that advance the understanding of oceanic systems and marine environments. To ensure clarity, transparency, and uniformity, authors must adhere to the guidelines outlined below when preparing and submitting their manuscripts.
1. Manuscript Types Accepted
We accept the following categories of submissions:
- Original Research Articles (3000–7000 words): Empirical studies offering new insights into marine science.
- Review Articles (5000–8000 words): Comprehensive overviews of specific topics or methodologies within marine disciplines.
- Case Studies and Field Reports (2000–4000 words): Observational studies, regional analyses, or site-based research.
- Short Communications (1000–2500 words): Preliminary data, technical notes, or early-stage findings.
- Perspective and Opinion Pieces (1500–3000 words): Expert commentary or theoretical contributions.
2. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
All submissions must be written in clear, grammatically correct English and structured as follows:
A. Title Page
- Full manuscript title
- Names and institutional affiliations of all authors
- ORCID iDs (if available)
- Designation of the corresponding author, including email address
B. Abstract
- A structured abstract (maximum 250 words) summarizing background, methods, key results, and conclusion
C. Keywords
- Include 4 to 6 relevant keywords to support indexing and search engine optimization
D. Main Body
- Introduction: State the research problem, objectives, and relevance
- Materials and Methods: Describe the study design, sampling techniques, and analysis procedures in detail
- Results: Present data objectively, supported by tables and figures
- Discussion: Interpret results, link to existing literature, and highlight implications
- Conclusion: Summarize key findings and potential applications
E. References
- Use the APA (American Psychological Association) Style, for all citations and bibliography entries
- Ensure in-text citations match the reference list and vice versa
F. Tables and Figures
- Submit high-resolution images separately (JPEG, PNG, or TIFF)
- Each figure and table must be referenced in the text and accompanied by a descriptive caption
3. Formatting Requirements
- Font: Times New Roman, 12-point
- Line spacing: Double-spaced
- Margins: 1 inch on all sides
- Page numbers: Bottom-right corner
- File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
Authors should not include headers or footers. Do not embed figures or tables within the main text; instead, submit them as separate files with placement suggestions indicated in the manuscript.
4. Ethical Standards and Compliance
A. Research Involving Humans or Animals
- Authors must declare compliance with ethical guidelines, such as obtaining institutional review board (IRB) approval and informed consent
B. Conflict of Interest
- All financial, personal, or professional affiliations that could influence the work must be disclosed
C. Authorship
- Only individuals who contributed significantly to the research and writing process should be listed as authors
D. Plagiarism Policy
- All submissions are screened for plagiarism. Submissions with detected plagiarism will be rejected or retracted
E. Data Availability
- Authors are encouraged to deposit datasets in open-access repositories and include data availability statements where applicable
5. Peer Review and Editorial Decision Process
All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review conducted by subject experts. The review process involves:
- Initial editorial assessment for scope and quality
- Double-blind review by at least two independent reviewers
- Reviewer comments and recommendations communicated to the authors
- Revised submission (if required) with a detailed response to reviewer feedback
The final decision is made by the editorial board, and accepted papers proceed to copyediting and production.
6. Open Access Policy and Article Processing Charges
The Annals of Marine Science Research is an open-access journal. All published articles are freely accessible online, allowing for wide dissemination and citation.
An Article Processing Charge applies upon acceptance of the manuscript. The APC supports the peer review process, editorial management, digital archiving, and unrestricted access to published articles. Authors will be notified of the APC upon acceptance; there are no submission or review fees.
7. Copyright and Licensing
- Authors retain the copyright of their work
- All published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), which allows users to distribute, remix, and adapt the work with proper citation
8. Submission Process
Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system. Authors should:
- Register or log in to the submission portal
- Follow the step-by-step submission process
- Upload all required files (manuscript, figures, supplementary material, cover letter)
- Confirm compliance with ethical policies and submission checklist
Cover Letter: All submissions must include a cover letter summarizing the research significance, article type, and suitability for the journal.
