The World Journal of Diabetes Research and Practice (3065-5161) welcomes the submission of high-quality, original manuscripts that contribute to the scientific and clinical understanding of diabetes, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, and related endocrine or systemic conditions. These guidelines are intended to assist authors in preparing their manuscripts according to the standards required for peer review and publication. Authors are encouraged to read the following information thoroughly before submitting their work.
1. Manuscript Categories
The journal considers a wide variety of article types that reflect the scope of diabetes research and public health. Manuscripts may be submitted under the following categories:
Original Research Articles: Full-length reports of novel clinical, epidemiological, or laboratory research.
Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses: In-depth reviews that compile and analyze previously published findings with a rigorous methodological approach.
Clinical Case Reports: Reports of unique or rare presentations of diabetes or its complications, with educational or clinical relevance.
Brief Reports: Concise studies that present valuable early findings or pilot data.
Public Health Reports: Submissions that address population-level diabetes interventions, policy implications, or community health programs.
Methodology Papers: Articles introducing new experimental methods, technological advancements, or data analytics tools.
Editorials and Opinion Articles: Expert commentary on emerging research, healthcare challenges, or ethical issues in diabetes care.
All manuscripts must contribute to the advancement of knowledge in clinical diabetology, translational research, endocrinology, or diabetes-related public health.
2. Manuscript Preparation
Language and Clarity
All manuscripts must be submitted in English and written with clarity, precision, and appropriate scientific terminology. Authors who are not native speakers of English may consider professional editing services before submission to ensure grammatical accuracy and fluency.
Document Format
Submissions must be prepared in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). Manuscripts should be typed double-spaced with one-inch margins on all sides, using a standard 12-point serif font such as Times New Roman. Pages must be numbered consecutively.
Title Page
The first page of the manuscript must include the article title, full names of all contributing authors, institutional affiliations, and contact information for the corresponding author. The title should be specific, informative, and not exceed 15 words.
Abstract and Keywords
Each manuscript must include an abstract between 150 and 250 words. The abstract should provide a concise summary of the background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of the study. Authors must also include 4 to 6 relevant keywords that reflect the core themes of the manuscript. Keywords such as “type 2 diabetes,” “insulin resistance,” “glucose metabolism,” “diabetes complications,” “clinical trials,” or “glycemic control” may be appropriate depending on the topic.
Manuscript Structure
For research articles, the manuscript should be structured using the following major sections:
Introduction: Outline the background, rationale, and objectives of the study.
Materials and Methods: Provide detailed information on study design, participant selection, data collection, statistical analysis, and ethical considerations.
Results: Present findings with appropriate tables, graphs, and figures. Avoid duplication of data between text and visuals.
Discussion: Interpret the results in context with current literature, limitations of the study, and implications for practice or future research.
Conclusion: Summarize key findings and their relevance to the field.
Figures and Tables
Figures and tables must be clearly numbered in the order in which they appear in the text. Each should be accompanied by a concise, descriptive title. Visual materials should be submitted as separate high-resolution image files in JPEG or PNG format, in addition to being embedded in the manuscript.
References
The journal follows APA (American Psychological Association) style for referencing. All in-text citations and the reference list must be formatted accordingly.
In-text citation: (Author, Year) — Example: (Taylor, 2021)
Reference list:
Taylor, M. (2021). Advances in glycemic control among elderly patients. Journal of Endocrine Studies, 24(3), 112–120. https://doi.org/xx.xxx
Only sources that are directly cited in the manuscript should be included in the reference list. Authors are encouraged to reference recent studies, preferably from the last five years, to reflect current research.
3. Submission Process
Online Submission
All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system. First-time users must create an account, after which they can upload their manuscript and supplementary files. Ensure that all required metadata fields are completed during submission.
Cover Letter
A cover letter must accompany each submission. The letter should briefly summarize the purpose of the study, confirm that the manuscript is original and not under consideration elsewhere, and state the relevance of the study to diabetes research or practice.
Declarations
Authors must clearly disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including financial relationships, affiliations, or funding sources that may influence the interpretation of the results. A disclosure statement must be included at the end of the manuscript before the references.
4. Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process. Manuscripts are initially screened by the editorial team to ensure they meet the journal’s formatting and scope criteria. Suitable submissions are then evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with subject matter expertise. Reviewers assess the manuscript’s originality, scientific validity, clarity, relevance, and contribution to the field.
Authors can expect to receive a decision within a reasonable timeframe, which may include acceptance, requests for minor or major revisions, or rejection. Feedback provided by reviewers should be addressed point-by-point in the revised submission.
5. Article Processing Charges
Authors of accepted manuscripts will be required to pay an article processing charge (APC) to support the cost of editorial handling, peer review management, typesetting, and online hosting. Specific details about APCs will be provided to authors during the final stages of the publication process.
6. Ethical Compliance
Research involving human participants, patient data, or animal models must comply with ethical standards and be approved by a recognized ethics committee or institutional review board. Authors must include a clear statement regarding ethics approval and informed consent in the manuscript.
All studies must uphold the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. Any form of data fabrication, plagiarism, or duplicate publication will result in immediate rejection and appropriate reporting to institutional authorities.
7. Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain full copyright over their published work. By submitting to this journal, authors grant the publisher the right to disseminate the article under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. This license permits reuse, sharing, adaptation, and distribution of the article, provided proper credit is given to the original authors.
8. Revision and Resubmission
In cases where revisions are requested, authors must submit a revised manuscript along with a response letter detailing how reviewer comments have been addressed. Revised submissions will be re-evaluated by the reviewers or the editorial team, depending on the extent of the revisions required.
