Author Guidelines

The Science Set Journal of Ophthalmology and Eye Care (ISSN: 2996-0940) invites submissions from researchers, clinicians, educators, and healthcare professionals who wish to contribute high-quality work to the evolving field of eye health, vision science, and clinical ophthalmology. These guidelines are provided to help authors understand our submission process, formatting expectations, ethical requirements, and publication practices.

We accept a broad array of article types including original research, clinical studies, case reports, reviews, and technical innovations. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the following instructions to ensure a smooth peer-review and editorial workflow.

1. Article Types Accepted

We publish diverse scholarly works relevant to vision research and clinical eye care. Manuscripts may be submitted in the following formats:

  • Original Research Articles: Empirical studies offering new insights into basic science, clinical ophthalmology, ocular pharmacology, surgical methods, and vision therapy.
  • Case Reports and Case Series: Descriptions of rare or complex clinical presentations, diagnostic challenges, treatment strategies, and follow-up outcomes.
  • Review Articles: Critical summaries and syntheses of current evidence in key areas such as refractive errors, corneal disorders, retinal diseases, or neuro-ophthalmology.
  • Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses: Structured evaluations of existing literature using established methodological standards.
  • Short Communications: Brief reports on novel findings, emerging concepts, or preliminary data.
  • Technical Reports: Innovative surgical techniques, diagnostic technologies, or new uses of existing equipment in ophthalmic care.

2. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

To maintain consistency and quality across published articles, authors must adhere to the formatting standards outlined below:

Language and Style

  • All manuscripts must be written in clear, fluent, and grammatically correct English.
  • Use consistent medical and scientific terminology throughout the paper.
  • Avoid the use of jargon, ambiguous phrasing, or region-specific expressions.

Manuscript Structure

Authors should organize their papers using the following structure:

  • Title Page: Article title, full names and affiliations of all authors, corresponding author’s contact information.
  • Abstract: A concise summary (150–250 words) that includes background, objectives, methods, key results, and conclusions. Include 4–6 keywords beneath the abstract.
  • Introduction: Contextualize the study and explain its purpose.
  • Materials and Methods: Detailed description of experimental design, instruments used (e.g., slit-lamp biomicroscopy, fundus photography), subject selection, statistical tools, and ethical approval.
  • Results: Present findings clearly with appropriate tables, charts, and figures.
  • Discussion: Interpret findings in relation to existing research, clinical relevance, limitations, and implications for future studies.
  • Conclusion: Summarize the significance of the work in the field of ophthalmology or eye care.
  • References: Use a consistent referencing style such as Vancouver or APA (as preferred by the journal editorial board).

Figures and Tables

  • All visual data should be of high resolution and labeled appropriately.
  • Each figure or table must be referenced within the text.
  • Provide descriptive legends to ensure clarity and comprehension.

3. Submission Process

Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts through the journal's online submission portal or designated email address. During submission, ensure that the following files are included:

  • Complete manuscript (in .doc or .docx format)
  • Cover letter outlining the significance of the work
  • Ethical approval letter (if applicable)
  • Conflict of interest declaration
  • Authorship contribution statement

Manuscripts will undergo an initial editorial review followed by double-blind peer review. Authors should expect to receive reviewer feedback and may be asked to revise the manuscript accordingly.

4. Ethical Considerations

Ethical compliance is crucial in all stages of research and publication. Submissions must meet the following standards:

  • Human Subjects Research: Include a statement confirming that the study was approved by an institutional ethics committee and that informed consent was obtained from participants.
  • Animal Studies: Must follow institutional and international guidelines for the humane treatment of animals.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose all financial or non-financial relationships that may influence the research.
  • Data Availability: Clearly indicate where the data supporting the findings can be accessed, or provide a rationale for data restrictions.

Plagiarism, duplicate submissions, and data manipulation are strictly prohibited. All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection tools.

5. Author Contributions

Each author should be credited based on their specific contribution to the study. Examples include: conceptualization, methodology, data analysis, manuscript drafting, critical revisions, and final approval of the version submitted.

Group authorship or multi-author collaborations should provide a detailed breakdown of each member’s role to ensure transparency and accountability.

6. Copyright and Licensing

Upon acceptance, authors will be required to sign a copyright agreement transferring publishing rights to the journal. Articles are published under open-access terms, ensuring free and permanent availability to readers worldwide.

Authors retain the right to archive pre-prints and share published versions under the terms specified in the journal’s copyright policy.

7. Article Processing Charges

To support the costs of peer review, editorial management, open-access hosting, and digital archiving, the journal charges a publication fee. The specific APC amount will be communicated to the authors following acceptance of the manuscript. There are no submission charges or fees for rejected papers.
