Author Guidelines

The Science Set Journal of Medical and Clinical Case Studies (ISSN: 3066-8115) invites the submission of high-quality, original clinical case reports and related articles that contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and practice. To facilitate a smooth and efficient submission process, we have outlined the following comprehensive guidelines. Adherence to these instructions will ensure that your manuscript meets the necessary standards for peer review and eventual publication.

1. Manuscript Types

We accept the following types of manuscripts for publication:

Original Clinical Case Reports: Detailed reports that focus on unique, rare, or significant clinical observations.

Case Series: Collections of related case reports highlighting trends or unusual patterns.

Case-Based Reviews: Reviews that analyze clinical cases to highlight broader medical or diagnostic trends, incorporating evidence from literature.

Diagnostic Challenges: Articles that focus on complex or difficult-to-diagnose clinical cases, demonstrating diagnostic reasoning and methodologies.

Educational Case Vignettes: Short cases intended to teach specific clinical skills or raise awareness about a particular diagnosis or treatment approach.

Image-Based Clinical Reports: Case reports in which imaging techniques play a central role in diagnosis, treatment, or patient management.

2. Manuscript Preparation

Language and Writing Style

Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English. Non-native English speakers may consider having their manuscripts professionally edited before submission.

The writing should be straightforward and avoid unnecessary jargon. Use language that is accessible to clinicians and researchers alike.

Formatting

Submissions must be made in Word document (.doc or .docx) format.

The manuscript should be double-spaced with 1-inch margins on all sides and use a 12-point font (Times New Roman is preferred).

Number all pages, including the title page, abstract, text, references, figures, and tables.

Title: Provide a concise and descriptive title of no more than 15 words. The title should clearly reflect the essence of the case study or article.

Abstract: An abstract (150–250 words) should be included, summarizing the clinical case, diagnostic challenges, treatment approach, and outcomes.

Keywords: List 4-6 keywords that best describe the subject matter of the manuscript. These keywords should be selected to facilitate searchability and indexing.

Sections of the Manuscript

The main sections of the manuscript should include:

Introduction: Briefly introduce the clinical context of the case. Discuss the relevance of the case to medical practice, the disease or condition involved, and any significant challenges or learning points.

Case Presentation: Provide detailed information about the patient’s medical history, clinical examination findings, investigations, and diagnostic approach.

Diagnosis and Discussion: Discuss the clinical reasoning behind the diagnosis, including any differential diagnoses considered. Provide a detailed discussion of the disease, condition, or problem addressed, referencing the relevant literature.

Treatment and Management: Outline the treatment plan, including any medications, surgical interventions, or therapeutic approaches. Discuss the patient’s response to treatment and any complications or challenges encountered.

Outcome and Follow-up: Provide details on the patient’s outcomes and long-term follow-up, if applicable. Discuss any significant changes in the patient's condition over time.

Conclusion: Summarize key learning points from the case, emphasizing how the findings may inform clinical practice or future research.

Figures and Tables

Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively and cited within the manuscript text.

Figure legends and table captions must be brief but descriptive.

High-quality images (photographs, radiographs, or pathology slides) should be submitted separately as .jpg or .png files. Ensure that patient consent for publication of images has been obtained.

If including any images of patients, make sure that all personal information is anonymized. Obtain written consent from patients for the use of their images in publications.

3. Submission Process

Online Submission: All submissions must be made through the journal’s online submission system. Create an account, log in, and follow the prompts to submit the manuscript and any supporting documents.

Cover Letter: A cover letter must accompany your manuscript submission. This letter should include a statement confirming that the manuscript is original, not under consideration elsewhere, and outlining the novel contributions of the manuscript to medical knowledge and practice.

Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including financial, personal, or professional relationships that could influence the manuscript’s objectivity.

Ethical Approval: For studies involving human or animal subjects, ethical approval must be obtained from the relevant ethics committee or institutional review board (IRB). Authors must state this in the manuscript and provide approval details.

4. Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process. During the review, experts in the field will assess the quality, significance, and relevance of the manuscript. This rigorous process helps maintain the journal’s standards of excellence and scientific integrity. Authors will receive feedback and are required to revise their manuscripts in response to the reviewer comments. Authors must provide a response letter detailing how the reviewer comments have been addressed in the revised manuscript.

5. Article Processing Charges

Upon acceptance for publication, authors will be required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) to cover the costs of publication. Specific details regarding the APC and payment procedures will be provided during the submission process. However, please note that the exact charge is not disclosed at this stage.

6. Ethical Guidelines

Authors are required to adhere to the highest ethical standards of research and publication:

Informed Consent: All case studies involving human patients must include a statement confirming that informed consent was obtained for participation and publication.

Confidentiality: Authors must ensure that the identity of patients is fully protected and that any sensitive data is anonymized.

Plagiarism: Submissions must be original and free from plagiarism. All sources must be properly cited and referenced.

Data Integrity: Authors must ensure that all data presented is accurate and that any errors or discrepancies in data are transparently addressed.

7. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain full copyright of their work but grant the journal a license to publish the manuscript under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) license. This allows others to freely access, use, and distribute the work with appropriate attribution to the original authors. Authors are free to reuse their work elsewhere, as long as proper citation is given.

8. Revision Process

Once the manuscript has been reviewed, the editorial team will provide feedback from the reviewers. If revisions are required, authors will need to address each reviewer's comment and resubmit the manuscript. A response letter should be included, detailing how each point of feedback has been addressed in the revised manuscript.

We thank you for considering the Science Set Journal of Medical and Clinical Case Studies for your work. We look forward to receiving your submission and contributing to the ongoing advancement of clinical practice and medical research.
