Journal of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry Research

Author Guidelines

The Journal of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry Research (ISSN: 3065-4874) invites researchers, clinicians, and academicians to submit original, high-quality manuscripts that contribute to the fields of psychiatry, neurochemistry, molecular neuroscience, psychopharmacology, neurobiology, and related disciplines. This guide provides comprehensive instructions to facilitate the submission, review, and publication process. Authors are encouraged to read the guidelines thoroughly before submitting their work.

1. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

We welcome submissions in the following formats:

  • Original Research Articles: Empirical studies involving clinical trials, neurochemical assays, molecular or cellular investigations, and translational psychiatry research.
  • Review Articles: Detailed and evidence-based overviews of specific topics, offering a critical synthesis of existing literature in psychiatry and neurochemistry.
  • Short Communications: Brief reports that highlight novel findings or early-stage research that is of immediate relevance.
  • Case Reports: Detailed analyses of individual clinical cases involving unique neurochemical findings or treatment responses.
  • Technical Notes: Descriptions of innovative techniques, experimental protocols, or analytic methods.
  • Letters to the Editor: Commentary, critique, or additional insights related to articles previously published in the journal.

Each manuscript type must adhere to specific structural and formatting requirements, as outlined below.

2. Manuscript Formatting and Structure

All submissions must be in clear, grammatically correct English. Manuscripts must be formatted as follows:

  • Title Page: Include the full title, names of all authors, institutional affiliations, and corresponding author's contact information.
  • Abstract: A structured abstract of no more than 300 words summarizing the background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. Use relevant keywords.
  • Keywords: A list of 5 to 8 keywords that reflect the core themes of the study, such as neurotransmitters, neuroinflammation, psychiatric disorders, synaptic plasticity, molecular markers, neuroimaging, psychotropic agents.
  • Main Text:

- Introduction: Establish the context and rationale behind the research.

- Materials and Methods: Clearly describe study design, patient or sample selection, procedures, and analytical techniques. Ensure reproducibility.

- Results: Present findings objectively with appropriate use of tables, graphs, and statistical indicators.

- Discussion: Interpret the results, connect them with existing literature, and identify clinical or research implications.

- Conclusion: Summarize key findings and potential applications.

  • Acknowledgments: Disclose funding sources, contributions of non-authors, and institutional support.
  • Conflict of Interest Statement: Authors must declare any financial or personal relationships that could influence the research.
  • References: Follow a consistent citation format (e.g., Vancouver or APA). References must be current and relevant.

3. Submission Procedure

Authors must submit manuscripts through the journal’s official online submission system or via the designated editorial email address. Files must be in .doc or .docx format. Figures should be submitted as separate high-resolution image files (JPEG, PNG, or TIFF).

Each submission must be accompanied by:

  • A cover letter stating the originality of the work, its relevance to the journal, and that it is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • A statement of ethical compliance confirming that research involving human or animal subjects complies with institutional and international ethical standards.

Manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. Authors must ensure that identifying information is removed from the main text and file metadata to maintain reviewer anonymity.

4. Peer Review and Editorial Process

Upon submission, manuscripts are screened for compliance with journal guidelines and ethical standards. Suitable submissions are assigned to independent peer reviewers with expertise in relevant domains such as neurochemistry, psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and translational neuroscience.

The review process involves:

  • Initial editorial assessment
  • Double-blind peer review by at least two experts
  • Editorial decision (accept, revise, or reject) based on reviewer feedback

Revised manuscripts must be submitted within the specified timeframe, addressing all reviewer comments systematically.

5. Ethical Considerations

  • Human Subjects Research: Manuscripts involving patients or human participants must include a statement of ethical approval by an institutional review board and written informed consent from all subjects.
  • Animal Studies: Research involving animals must follow internationally accepted standards for the humane treatment of animals and include an ethics approval statement.
  • Plagiarism and Misconduct: The journal maintains zero tolerance for plagiarism, falsified data, duplicate publication, or unethical research conduct. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software.
  • Authorship Criteria: Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study should be listed as authors.

6. Article Processing Charges

The Journal of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry Research operates under an open-access model to ensure free and immediate access to scholarly content for the global scientific and clinical community. Authors are responsible for paying an article processing charge upon acceptance of the manuscript. The APC helps support peer review, digital archiving, indexing, and long-term accessibility of published research.

Exact APC details are available upon request or during the final stages of acceptance.

7. Open Access and Copyright

All articles published in this journal are made freely available under a Creative Commons license. Authors retain full copyright of their work. The journal supports the widest possible dissemination of research and encourages sharing, reproduction, and educational reuse, provided proper attribution is given.

8. Contact Information

For manuscript submissions, editorial queries, or technical support, authors may contact the editorial office via the journal’s website or by email. A response will typically be provided within 3–5 working days.
