Journal of Petroleum, Fossil Fuels, and Energy Resources

Journal of Petroleum, Fossil Fuels, and Energy Resources

Author Guidelines

The Journal of Petroleum, Fossil Fuels, and Energy Resources accepts submissions that examine petroleum engineering, fossil fuel utilisation, and energy resource management. Manuscripts must reflect a commitment to intellectual rigour, clarity, and ethical research practice. Submissions should be original, clearly written, and relevant to the journal’s core themes.

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s online submission system. Submissions that do not meet the journal’s formatting or ethical standards may be returned to authors before peer review.

Article Types

  • Research Articles: Full-length empirical, theoretical, or simulation-based studies in petroleum, fossil fuels, or energy resources.
  • Analytical Essays: Conceptual or reflective discussions on frameworks or debates in petroleum engineering, fossil fuel technologies, or energy transitions.
  • Review Articles: Comprehensive surveys of literature and advancements in petroleum systems, fossil fuels, and energy studies.
  • Case Studies: Analyses of petroleum projects, extraction processes, or resource management practices.
  • Commentary and Perspective: Short contributions reflecting on new developments in petroleum or energy sectors.
  • Policy Analyses: Evaluations of regulatory frameworks, environmental standards, or economic policies related to fossil fuels.
  • Educational Reports: Descriptions of teaching methods, curriculum, or training in petroleum engineering and energy studies.
  • Letters to the Editor: Scholarly responses to published work or reflections on emerging topics.

General Formatting

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word using Times New Roman, 12-point font, double spacing, and 2.5 cm margins. Pages must be numbered.

Title Page
The title page must include:

  • Full manuscript title
  • Names and institutional affiliations of all authors
  • Corresponding author’s contact details
  • Conflict of interest disclosures
  • Funding acknowledgements (if applicable)
  • Ethical approval statements (if applicable)
  • A short author biography (50–100 words) may be included as a separate file if requested.

Abstract
An abstract of 250–300 words must summarise objectives, methods, findings, and significance. It should be accessible to readers outside the author’s primary discipline but with interest in petroleum or energy resources.

Keywords
Authors must provide 4–6 keywords reflecting the manuscript’s disciplinary focus.

Main Text
Recommended structure for research manuscripts:

  • Introduction: Define the problem, situate it in literature, and outline relevance to petroleum or energy resources.
  • Methods: Describe approaches, data, simulations, or theoretical frameworks.
  • Results or Argument: Present findings, models, or contributions with figures/tables as appropriate.
  • Discussion: Interpret results, compare with prior work, address implications.
  • Conclusion: Summarise contributions and note future directions.

Other article types may use flexible structures while maintaining clarity and scholarly depth.

Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures must be labelled, numbered, and cited in the text.
  • Figures should be submitted in high resolution (JPEG, PNG, TIFF).
  • Supplementary files (datasets, field reports, or appendices) may be submitted separately.

References
All references must follow APA style. Accuracy and consistency are the author’s responsibility.

Ethical Considerations
Submissions involving fieldwork, industry data, or human participation (e.g., safety studies) must include an ethics statement.

Case studies or industry-based projects should include details of consent, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance.

Conflict of Interest
Authors must declare financial, institutional, or professional relationships that could influence interpretation.

Funding Disclosure
All sources of funding must be acknowledged, or state explicitly if none were received.

Submission Requirements
Submissions must include: main manuscript, title page, figures/tables (if separate), supplementary materials (if applicable), and a cover letter outlining originality and relevance.

Peer Review
All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by experts in petroleum engineering, fossil fuels, and energy studies.

Article Processing Charge (APC)
An APC will apply upon acceptance. Details will be provided after editorial approval.

Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright. Articles are published open access under attribution requirements.

Editorial Support
The editorial office is available for assistance with scope, formatting, ethics, or manuscript preparation.
