Author Guidelines

The Journal of Infectious Diseases and Viruses Research (ISSN: 3065-758X) is committed to publishing well-structured, scientifically sound, and ethically conducted research that contributes meaningfully to the fields of infectious diseases, virology, public health, epidemiology, and clinical microbiology. To facilitate a smooth and efficient publication process, authors are required to adhere to the following comprehensive guidelines when preparing and submitting their manuscripts.

These instructions are intended to help authors produce manuscripts that meet high academic and professional standards, while also ensuring clarity, reproducibility, and transparency of the research.

1. Manuscript Types Accepted

We accept a wide variety of manuscript types. Authors are encouraged to select the format that most effectively presents their research objectives, methodology, and findings. The journal accepts:

Original Research Articles: In-depth studies presenting novel data, findings, and interpretations in the area of infectious diseases and virology.

Review Articles: Comprehensive literature-based discussions that provide a critical overview of existing knowledge and suggest future directions for research.

Clinical Case Reports: Well-documented accounts of unique, rare, or complex clinical cases that can serve as educational resources or highlight important diagnostic and therapeutic insights.

Short Communications: Concise manuscripts reporting significant preliminary results or timely updates that warrant rapid dissemination.

Technical Notes: Articles detailing new methods, laboratory procedures, diagnostic tools, or equipment that improve scientific practice.

Editorials and Commentaries: Opinion-driven submissions addressing emerging trends, public health challenges, or policy issues related to infectious diseases.

2. General Formatting and Language

All manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatically correct English. Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to have their work reviewed by a professional language editing service before submission.

Document Format: Manuscripts must be submitted as Microsoft Word documents (.doc or .docx format).

Font and Spacing: Use 12-point Times New Roman font, with double line spacing and standard 1-inch margins on all sides.

Page Numbering: Pages should be numbered consecutively in the bottom right corner.

Section Headings: Use clear and logically structured section headings, avoiding numbering unless necessary.

3. Manuscript Structure

A well-organised manuscript should contain the following components in the given order:

Title Page: Include a concise and informative title (not exceeding 20 words), full names and affiliations of all authors, and contact information for the corresponding author.

Abstract: Provide a structured abstract between 200 to 300 words summarising the study's background, objectives, methodology, major results, and key conclusions.

Keywords: Supply 5 to 7 relevant keywords that accurately describe the content. Examples include infectious diseases, virology, pathogen transmission, antimicrobial resistance, outbreak investigation, and immunisation.

Introduction: Briefly describe the background of the study, the problem being addressed, and the study's primary objectives or hypotheses.

Materials and Methods: Explain in detail the research design, study population, sampling techniques, laboratory procedures, statistical analysis methods, and ethical considerations.

Results: Present the findings using text, tables, and figures where appropriate. Do not interpret the results in this section.

Discussion: Interpret the results in context with existing literature. Discuss potential implications, limitations, and areas for further investigation.

Conclusion: Provide a concise summary of the major findings and their importance.

References: Use APA citation style consistently throughout the manuscript. All references must be complete, accurate, and appropriately cited.

In-Text Citation Format (APA Style):

Example: (Brown & Smith, 2021)

Reference List Format:

Smith, J. A., & Doe, R. M. (2021). Emerging viral pathogens and human health. Journal of Virological Research, 14(3), 215–225. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jvr.2021.03.004

4. Figures and Tables

All figures and tables should be cited within the main text and must be submitted in separate, high-resolution files. Acceptable formats include .jpg, .jpeg, or .png for images and graphs.

Figure Titles: Provide descriptive captions for each figure.

Table Headings: Tables must have clear, self-explanatory titles and footnotes if applicable.

All visuals should enhance the understanding of the manuscript and not duplicate information presented in the text.

5. Submission Process

Authors must submit their manuscripts through the journal’s official online submission platform. Registration is required to create an author account, after which the submission portal can be accessed.

Cover Letter: A brief cover letter must be submitted alongside the manuscript. The letter should mention the manuscript’s title, the novelty and relevance of the work, and a declaration that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.

Conflicts of Interest: All authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that might bias their work. If there are no conflicts, this must be explicitly stated.

Ethical Approval: For studies involving human subjects, animals, or sensitive data, authors must confirm that they obtained approval from an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board.

6. Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review to ensure impartiality and academic integrity. Each submission is evaluated by subject matter experts for originality, scientific accuracy, ethical soundness, and relevance to the field.

The editorial team may request revisions at any stage before final acceptance. Authors are required to respond to reviewer comments clearly and concisely and submit a revised manuscript along with a point-by-point response letter.

7. Article Processing Charges

The journal follows an open-access model. To support the editorial process, manuscript production, and online hosting, an Article Processing Charge (APC) will be applicable upon acceptance of the manuscript. Specific payment details and instructions will be provided following acceptance.

8. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright to their published work. By submitting a manuscript, authors agree to grant the journal a license to publish the work under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, allowing unrestricted distribution and reuse provided appropriate credit is given.
