Journal of Environmental Science, Sustainability, and Green Innovation

Author Guidelines

The Journal of Environmental Science, Sustainability, and Green Innovation (3067-8366) accepts several categories of manuscripts to accommodate the diverse needs of environmental researchers and practitioners. Authors may submit:

  • Original Research Articles presenting novel findings and data-driven insights
  • Review Articles that comprehensively synthesize existing literature
  • Policy Analyses and Case Studies highlighting practical, policy-relevant work
  • Conceptual and Theoretical Papers proposing new models or analytical frameworks
  • Short Communications offering concise research updates or methodological innovations

Manuscripts must align with the journal’s scope, demonstrate scholarly rigor, and provide relevant insights into environmental science, sustainability practices, or green innovation strategies.

General Submission Requirements

Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. All manuscripts should be written in clear, formal English and adhere to the formatting and citation standards described below.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically via the journal’s submission system. Authors are encouraged to thoroughly proofread and format their submissions prior to submission to facilitate a smooth peer review process.

Key Submission Elements:

  • Title Page (including full title, author names, affiliations, and corresponding author details)
  • Abstract (250-300 words summarizing background, methods, findings, and significance)
  • Keywords (5-7 terms relevant to the manuscript content)
  • Main Text (structured into logical sections)
  • References (formatted according to APA style)
  • Figures, Tables, and Captions (clearly numbered and embedded or provided as separate files)
  • Acknowledgements and Funding Information (if applicable)
  • Ethical Compliance Statement (if human/animal subjects or sensitive data are involved)

Manuscript Formatting

Title

The manuscript title should be specific, informative, and reflect the scope of the study. Avoid abbreviations or overly technical phrasing.

Abstract

The abstract should concisely present the aim of the study, methodology, major results, and conclusions. It should be self-contained and suitable for indexing.

Keywords

Include 5 to 7 keywords or short phrases that accurately describe the subject area and facilitate discoverability in search engines and databases.

Main Body

The structure of the main text may vary depending on the manuscript type. A typical research article should follow this order:

  • Introduction: Outline the background, significance, and objective of the study
  • Materials and Methods: Describe procedures, experimental designs, and data analysis methods in sufficient detail for replication
  • Results: Present findings clearly, with appropriate use of visuals and statistical reporting
  • Discussion: Interpret the results, relate them to existing literature, and discuss limitations
  • Conclusion: Summarize the main findings and suggest practical or theoretical implications

For review articles and conceptual papers, authors may adopt alternative sectioning that best suits their content while maintaining logical coherence.

Figures and Tables

All visual materials should be high-resolution, professionally presented, and numbered consecutively. Tables must be editable (not images), and figure legends should be descriptive and self-explanatory.

If figures or tables are reused from previously published sources, appropriate permissions must be obtained, and proper attribution must be included.

References

All citations must follow the APA referencing style. In-text citations should include the author’s last name and year of publication. The reference list should be formatted with hanging indents and arranged alphabetically by author surname.

Example:

XXXX, J. A., & XXX, M. T. (2XX2). XXXX urban XX XXXXX: A XXX study XXX. XXXXX XXX Journal, 45(2), XXX-139. https://doi.org/10.xxxxxx

Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Authorship and Acknowledgements

Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research should be listed as authors. All listed authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.

Contributions from individuals or organizations not qualifying for authorship should be acknowledged in a separate section. Funding sources and grant numbers must also be disclosed here.

Ethical Standards

JESSGI adheres strictly to ethical publication practices. Authors must:

  • Confirm that the manuscript is original and free of plagiarism
  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest
  • Ensure that research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data complies with institutional or national ethics guidelines
  • Provide appropriate documentation, such as ethics committee approval, informed consent, or anonymization protocols, when applicable

Failure to meet these ethical standards may result in rejection, retraction, or other editorial actions.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise and are expected to provide constructive, unbiased, and timely feedback. Authors will receive reviewer comments and editorial decisions via the submission portal.

The editorial office may request revisions, clarifications, or additional data during the review process. Authors are encouraged to respond thoroughly to reviewer comments when submitting revised versions.

Open Access Policy

The journal operates on a full open access model, ensuring that all published content is freely accessible to readers worldwide. This approach promotes wide dissemination, visibility, and citation of scholarly work, especially in fields that impact public policy and environmental decision-making.

Authors retain the copyright to their work under a Creative Commons license, typically the CC BY 4.0 license, which allows redistribution and reuse with appropriate credit.

Article Processing Charges

To support open access publishing, the journal applies an Article Processing Charge upon acceptance of a manuscript. The APC covers editorial handling, peer review coordination, online hosting, long-term archiving, and indexing services. Authors will be informed of the APC and payment instructions after their manuscript is accepted.

Waivers or discounts may be considered for authors from low-income countries or under specific institutional agreements.
