Minimizing Indoor Infection Risk by Airborne Pathogens with Nanofiltra tion and Vertical Flow

Abstract:
The risk of infection between people can be significantly reduced with targeted vertical flow control in the room and nano-filtration of the recirculated air. This cannot be achieved with other air purification devices or ventilation systems. In the work described, three examples of preventing the risk of infection - a classroom ventilation system, ventila tion of an elevator cabin and securing a hospital bed - were physically implemented and evaluated experimentally and numerically. In addition to the results of these examples, the currently applicable regulations were critically discussed, as well as the difficulties involved in the widespread introduction of the innovations developed.
